FAQs

Our Proco 416P is a coagulant & flocculant combined into a single product. Designed to be used with a wide range of water-based glues and is easy to use and easy to mix. As this is a powder there are no spillage issues or other handling complications that can arise with liquids.

Our range of powder water treatment products are designed to be used with water that has been generated by a cleaning process such as booth cleaning, machine cleaning or hose flushing as well as many other operations. It is not designed to be used as an addition to a standard design spray booth, for this we recommend our liquid products Proco, Proco 301 and Proflo+. This doesn't mean that spray booth water can't be treated with Proco 410P just that the water should be pumped into a tank for treatment then returned to the spray booth after filtering.

Proco 416P is added to the contaminated water and the water should be stirred to ensure complete mixing. Once the separation is complete the solution can be filtered to remove the solids and the water recycled and put back into the cleaning process, used elsewhere for cleaning or disposed.

The actual process remains the same whatever the volume of water being treated but the mixing will differ. We have customers that will collect and treat their water in 20 litre drums, 200 litre drums right up to those that use our Fusion 800 mixing tanks.

Can I use Proco 416P in my spray booth?

It depends a little bit on the design of your spray booth however the vast majority of standard spray booth designs make it very difficult to use Proco 416P or any other products from our powder range. The reason is mixing. Our liquid products (Proco, Proco 301, Proflo+ etc.) are designed to be mixed with air which makes them ideal for using within a spray booth as they can be easily mixed into the booth water by agitating with air or, with the Proco products, allowing the booth to mix the products itself by adding them whilst the booth is running. Our powder range reach optimum efficiency with stirring rather than air agitation. This can be any type of variable stirring from a hand held drill and plaster mixer to an IBC mixer or Fusion 800 mixing tank. It really depends upon the volumes that you are treating.

Why should I use Proco 416P and not Proco?

The choice is really determined by your process. If you want to treat the water within a spray booth, especially a standard design booth, and the water is staying in the booth then Proco is the product to use. This is designed to be used within a working spray booth and will allow you to treat the water and, if used with Proflo+, remove the paint, lacquer etc to keep the booth water clean. Proco 410P (along with our other Proco powders) are designed to be used to treat contaminated water held within a drum or mixing tank. Generally our customers collect their water over a period of time whether that be a day, a week or even a month then undergo a treatment when they have collected a certain amount.

How do I mix the water?

The main thing to remember is that our Proco powder products should be stirred into the water not agitated with air. Proco and Proco 301(liquid products) can be mixed with air but the powders perform at their best when they are stirred. How the solution is stirred depends upon the volumes being treated. If you are planning to treat and mix your water within a 200 litre drum then you could stir with a plasters mixer. For larger volumes we recommend to our customers that they either use an IBC mixer or, for the best results, consider our Fusion 800 storage/mixing tanks. These hold up to 800 litres and include an air powered mixing propeller and pipework.
